iPhone 5 Vs. Samsung Galaxy S3 | Genius Brain

The new iPhone 5 has come into rivalry in the smartphone Universe. Once again rumors win, and its announcement conforms much to the rumors. It’s certainly an improvement on the iPhone 4S and will be selling well, but it lacks the knockout, gasp-inducing features that Apple followers expect and other opponents fear. In a word, Samsung Galaxy S3 will still survive together with iPhone 5, and Apple leaves time and room for Nokia and Samsung for the future. Let's take a comparison between iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3.
Size and screen
display of iPhone 5

iPhone 5 features a 4-inch screen with a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels and the same 326 ppi Retina display as before. Any manufacturers can make larger phones, but keeping them thinner and lighter will be an issue! Apple has achieved it!

How about Galaxy S3? S3 uses a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD display with a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and features a 302 PPI (Pixel Per Inch) density.

iPhone 5 is designed all in a beautiful aluminum body and made with an unprecedented level of precision. If you want a more compact (slim and pocketable) design, iPhone 5 meets your needs.

Most feelings from the screens of both flagships could be similar. Which one to choose maybe depend on consumers’ preference on size and     design.

CPU and related hardware

With the all-new A6 chip, as announced, iPhone 5 will offer speed of up to twice as fast compared with the A5 chip, whatever you do. And users can get faster graphics performance than before. But what is important is that it requires less power.

Samsung Galaxy S3 features the Exynos 4412 Quad SoC from Samsung, 1.4 quad-core A9 processor and a Mali 400MP GPU, for its international version. The U.S. version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 (an LTE capable version) is based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 SoC with a 1.5GHz dual-core Krait CPU and an Adreno 220 GPU.

S3 has been in the market for months. How fast it runs is fact for all. We still have to wait for and look forward to the amazing speed from iPhone 5 by the end of this month. But so far it is hard to say any “final” words.

OS

We should keep in mind that at the core of every iPhone and iPad is iOS. It includes all the built-in apps you use every day and all the intuitive technology — like Multi-Touch and Siri. And Apple says iOS 6 is the world’s most advanced mobile operating system. Indeed we can’t ignore and neglect the effects from every updates of iOS. Then Siri starts the voice-controlling trend and now it updates much.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is currently officially using Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and is expected to get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean at some point in October. Obviously the Android is absolutely great rival for iOS. It also offers millions of apps at Google Play. Any apps iTunes has will exist similarly in Android devices. Of course, S3 owns the feature of Smart Actions, too. The S Voice feature also helps users a lot and is unique enough.
Other improvements

Apple fans are glad to see that iPhone 5 has support for 4G LTE and dual-band Wi-Fi as expected. However the US version of Galaxy S3 has the same thing. What we can wait in hope is that the new A6 can assist iPhone 5 to beat S3 down.

In addition, iPhone 5 still offer users an 8-megapixel camera and 1080p HD video recording but with three microphones now, improved speakers and smaller dock connector. Comparing with Galaxy S3, these improvements of iPhone 5 seems pretty much normal. Another thing to mention is that the camera from Nokia Lumia 920 is more amazing. Besides, S3 supports NFC. Both phones can’t play Flash on themselves.
That’s all! All about iPhone 5 are improvements of iPhone 4S and are all out-innovated for Samsung!
In all, the "final verdict" is too early for this comparison. What we know is that they will survive together. Only if some day Apple could play DVD on iPhone, that would be great and end-all breakout!

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch Review

Lenovo launches their another laptop named Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch. This Laptop include many new features in it. Lenovo takes its solid 14-inch ThinkPad X1 Carbon and upgrades it with Windows 8 and a touch screen, while keeping the excellent keyboard. But a little bad in it is that the touch screen makes the lid thicker, and the touch pad can be finicky at times.
The business-oriented Lenovo ThinkPad X1 adds must-have features for 2013, and remains a very impressive business-oriented ultrabook with strong crossover appeal.

In August 2012, we reviewed the first version of Lenovo's X1 Carbon, itself a 14-inch update to the previous 13-inch ThinkPad X1. It was a premium product, very lightweight for a 14-inch laptop, with a carbon fiber body and Lenovo's typically excellent keyboard design.
But, coming just a couple of months before Windows 8, it quickly felt dated thanks to a flood of thin, powerful, Windows 8 systems with touch screens -- a setup that has already become the default for nearly every new laptop.
Fortunately, Lenovo has now updated the X1 Carbon to Microsoft's new OS, and also added a touch screen -- something that Windows 8 practically requires for efficient navigation. The new screen adds a bit of thickness to the lid, but the system is otherwise very similar to the version reviewed last year, and much of this review is likewise similar to that first X1 Carbon.
Here is the screensjot of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch.

The internal components are standard, with a third-gen Intel Core i5 CPU, integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics, and a 128GB solid-state drive (SSD). That's a common enough loadout, and available in some very affordable laptops. But no one would describe the X1 Carbon as affordable. The new touch version starts at $1,499, which is $100 more than the non-touch version.
Of course, you get a lot of extra features that may help justify the higher price, including a suite of Lenovo-branded security and support apps, IT-department-friendly features like Intel's vPro technology, and one of the best laptop keyboards ever designed.
It's still expensive, especially compared with much of the ultra-book competition, and has a handful of quirks, but if you need those business-friendly features, or just superior construction and a great typing experience, it's worth the investment.
Here is a small description:
Price as reviewed $1,499
Processor Intel Core i5-3427U
Memory 4GB, 1333MHz DDR3
Hard drive 128GB SSD
Chipset Intel HM77
Graphics Intel HD4000
Operating System Windows 8 (64-bit)
Dimensions (WD) 13.0 x 8.9 inches
Height 0.74 inches
Screen size (diagonal) 14.0 inches
System weight / Weight with AC adapter 3.3/4.2 pounds
Category Midsize

5 free and awesome photo-editing apps on android

InstagramWe all love photographs and we all want them to look as beautiful as the moments captured in them. With a smartphone seen in almost every hand you look around, it has become more and more convenient for people to take pictures, whenever and wherever they want.
Moreover, it doesn’t stops at just taking pictures; it goes further with editing the same, customizing here n there and finally sharing the masterpieces with their loved ones through twitter or Facebook.
There are a number of photo editing applications available in the android market which offers a wide range of features and options to make your picture look stunning and more lifelike.
I have tried going through a lot of such applications and zeroed down to 5 of them which I found recommendable. The top 5 free photo editing applications (in no particular order) available on android market according to my personal opinion are-
1.       Instagram v3.0
Released in August this year, Instagram v3.0 is the latest version of the popular photo editing software for android platform, though there is an upgraded version available for iOs.
So, we all know about this one; Instagram has been known for easy interface and quick results. Just a few touches and you are ready to share a good retro looking picture with your friends.
So I shouldn’t talk about how it works, but rather tell you about what’s new in this version of this application. It’s the Mapping feature which has been added, this allows you to browse your pictures by the location you tagged them on a map.
The moment you`ll update to this version, it will get all your Instagram pictures where you activated geo-tagging together and automatically put them on map which allows you and your followers on this app to browse them by location.
You certainly get a notification cautioning you about the pictures which are ready to be published on the map, so you can choose which one to make public and which not.
If, even after allowing the app you want to restrict some pictures to get off the map, you can easily deselect them. So, all in all Instagram remains a popular choice amongst the android users though a variety in the filters could have made this app best amongst others.
2.       Pixlr-O-matic v2.1.2
The entire look and feel of this app is so rugged yet attractive. Without any registration formalities you can just kick start your creativity on your pictures.
The fact which I love the most about this app is that it spoils you badly with the options you get in terms of filters. There are SO Many to choose from and if you still can get enough you can download even more!
One thing I should make very clear is that you don’t have to be SUPER creative to use this app. Pixlr-o-matic is an intelligent app, it takes charge of everything. So if you don’t want to or if you can`t make out which filter to choose with which effect, there is a button on top right which is dubbed as Random.
Yes as the name suggest it randomly chooses filters, effects and frames and all you have to do is just keep pressing it. Sit back and choose which looks the best and yes! Just like that you are ready with your edited picture.
Easy right, and like everyone else it also give you a variety of options to share the edited picture with your friends using FB, Twitter, Picasa and Whatsapp et al.

3.        Photoshop Express- 7
Adobe Photoshop Express 7 is from the family of renowned editing software Photoshop which needs no introduction. This free application frankly doesn’t matches up to expectations I had but having said that I must admit that for a basic usage it is pretty decent.
This application allows you to crop, rotate, adjust color etc, which means everything BASIC you need to do with a picture. Apart from that you get some filters, effects and borders to choose from which are not big in numbers but would fall into satisfactory category.
The only problem I faced was with the selection of pictures, either the picture has to be in the camera gallery or should be stored in the internal memory of the phone. This somehow makes it irritating to store a picture from card memory to phone and then edit it.
We do have an option to change the setting to select the pictures from memory card but why should we do this setting-up thing when other apps gives every pictures without any extra effort. I wish the developers keep that in mind in the next version.
Apart from this app is just fine; you can try this if you are new to the editing arena.
4.       PicSay v1.4.0.1
PicSay is another good photo editing application available for free on Play store. This one gives you a decent scope of work with your pictures without making the entire process complicated.
There are effects like faux HDR, Tilt-shift, Pencil Sketch and Vignette et al from which you can choose the best for your picture. You also get the basic editing options like cropping, red-eye reduction, resizing etc.
PicSay can make your picture look more funny and colorful, you get word balloons with editable text, a number of hairstyles to choose from and a variety of shapes to add to your picture, apart from the cool stickers you get.
You can directly make the edited picture your wallpaper or even share very easily to any of the social networking sites using this application.

5.       PicsArt
This is the one app I was waiting for; it gives you so much to do. You can crop, straighten, adjust color and at the same time it allows to add filters, text, make collage of your pictures, draw stuff on them or on a blank screen. Everything in a single application- PicsArt.
I would call PicsArt as the art of photo editing made simple; it gets everything you need under one umbrella. Trust me you wouldn’t need any other application as far as photo editing is concerned once you give it a short.
It’s like you are getting the goodness of Photoshop and Instagram under one roof. The interface is simple yet gives you a lot of options to choose from.
Basically if you are a photo addict like me, this one is THE APP for you. So if you haven`t got it yet, then like Sachin says GO GET IT!
